A limited number of discounted places are available for students, representatives of community-based organisations, and delegates from accession states of the European Community. Applicants for discounted places will need to provide evidence that they comply with the conditions for these discounts: more details are available below.
Conditions for discounted places
We have a total of 50 places at the conference at reduced rates. We plan to allocate 40 of these places to students and to representatives of community-based registered charities. The other 10 places are reserved for delegates from the recent accession states of the European Union (Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia).
Delegates applying for discounted places will need to provide evidence that they fit the following criteria:
- Students should be fully matriculated and priority will be given to those studying on a relevant course with a significant interpretation content. Bookings will be accepted only from individuals, not from institutions. Institutions can, however, register interest on behalf of students.
- Community representatives must represent, or be an employee of, a non-profit community-based organisation. Evidence will be required of non-profit status. Initially a maximum of two representatives per organisation will be accepted, but a reserve can be identified in the event of places being available nearer the conference date.
- Accession state delegates must be working in a relevant field of employment and will be judged on a first come, first served basis. Initially a maximum of two delegates per country will be accepted, but a reserve can be identified in the event of places being available nearer the conference date.
Procedure
All applications for discounted places must be accompanied by evidence of eligibility. We will register these applications by the date of their submission. We will assess applications at the end of each month and will seek to allocate places so as to achieve a balance in terms of the affiliation, location and interests of the applicants.
At the end of each calendar month, applicants who meet the criteria will be advised that they have gained a place, assuming a reasonable balance is achieved both within student and community representative delegates and between these two categories is maintained.
We reserve the right to select or reject applicants for discounted places.
